Skyler's Birthday Video

Fun times! Skyler didn't know about making a wish part before blowing the candle. But he was so happy to have his friends and family there.

Skyler's Birthday

Finally, finally the day has come! Skyler has been waiting for his birthday for months! Almost since January. Every time when we go store, he'd always asked "Can I have this for my birthday?" We couldn't keep track of what he wanted, but most of all, he wanted to have a birthday party with friends. Since our house is little, we decided to invite his Sunbeam's friends, his cousins, and his favorite Grandma-Biggs. He decided to have his brithday theme as "How to train your dragon," which was a little hard since it didn't have much out there in the store. Satomi took almost 2 nights of sleepless nights (really didn't sleep much) to make cake and coming up with all of the fun. Planing of party was a fun work, Satomi was actually excited almost more than her own birthday. It was even better hearing giggles and laughter during the party (minus Evan's cranky-ness. He wasn't himself that day). After his birthday party, we took a little break and went to see "How to train your Dragon" movie for the 4th time since it came out in theater (okay, we are all obsessed with that movie). Then, we went to eat out Red Lobster where Skyler wanted to eat the "Lobster," just like his Daddy (it's his favorite). We are so blessed to have the happy-peaceful feeling like today. Thank you for all of the guests and friends who came to celebrate with us!!

Of Course, Dinosaur

With Skyler (and now Evan is getting into it, too), we can't forget Dinosaur. Dinosaur museum in Thanksgiving point has deal on every August month that entrance fee is only $2 per person. So, we went there to pre-celebrate Skyler's birthday. Oh boy we didn't know how long the line would be when we got there. Skyler and Satomi decided to check out the gift shop while Robert and Evan waited to the line to get in. Even though it was crowded than normal time, it wasn't chaos. We had a good time. Skyler was excited that he got to pick one toy that he could keep because he had enough money from his piggy bank. Satomi admitted that she has really hard time not buying toys to kids. Her excuse is "because I can't buy something for me, but I can find something for them easily."

Let's go Fly a kite

Skyler found a kite that was on clearance sale from Target, so we decided to go fly a kite as a family. It's fun to see our own kid loves to do what we loved to do when we were kid. Evan was just having so much fun exploring the nature world. So far this summer, we have been blessed to have healthy body that allowed us to do so much fun activities outside before long winter comes.

Evan's Birthday video

We wished we could capture when we first sang a happy birthday song to Evan as a family. He was SO HAPPY and he knew we were singing for him. Every time when he hears the song, he had a big smile on his face. Maybe we did it too much before we took this video...?!

Happy Birthday Evan!

Can't believe Evan is already one year old! He started to making many different sounds, mimicking us talking. He loves to explore things that sometimes gets him in trouble. He loves his brother Skyler (he is really Evan's security blanket). Most of all, he's been such a good baby and we sure hope we'll have more fun memories to make together as a family. Satomi made Dinosaur train for his birthday cake. We were blessed to have Grandparents Biggs and 2 of his uncles, Brad and Tom with us to celebrate. Happy Birthday, Evan!!

The world Biggest PIT

The world biggest pit Copper mine. It was free for couple of days so we decided to take a look. The wind was so strong, but the view was pretty amazing how tiny the big trucks looked when we saw them from the top. Over all, as you can see, we did many activities as a family this month. We felt so blessed to be able to do so. Family time is important, especially kids grow so fast, making an effort to have family time is worth it!

Couldn't get enough?

Lake wasn't enough? No, kids love water play! Every evening, bath time is one of their favorite things to do. Evan doesn't understand 'no big splash policy' yet and Skyler is taking advantage of that to make Satomi soak wet almost every night. When Robert gets to put them in a bath, Satomi laughed when ever she hear a little surprising scream out of Robert because she KNOWS why...

Rodeo, "Tough enough to wear Pink!"

Our frirend Chandra remembered Satomi saying that she has never been real Rodeo shows. So, she invited me to come with her family and friends to rodeo show as a part of celebrating UT's birthday event. It was powerful what they can do. We saw Pres. Monson there, we saw cawboy get kicked, etc. Skyler was so influenced by this event, he wanted to be like 'Andy' (Toy story) that night, so he got his own cowboy hat! It was pretty late when it finished, but they were so excited by it, they called Robert at his work and told what they saw. Thank you, Chandra and Connie!

Jordanelle State Park

This time, we went to Park City to do a little shopping (mostly for kids' clothing) and we packed lunch and went to Jordanelle State Park. We did this last year when Evan was still being cooked in Satomi's factory. The water was a little cold but weather was fine! We love this lake because bathroom is cleaner and shower water is warm! Satomi wants to make this as a family tradition to go out lake/beach (if we ever get to go beach) every summer, since she is from Japan! Kids were protected but Robert and Satomi both got sun burn. Maybe we'll use kid's sunscreen next time!

Youth Parade

It was such a hot day, but we attended to Youth Parade to celebrate Utah's birthday, "Pioneer day." Our stake won theme award in the parade. It was a great experience to teach kids what it means and how it is a blessing for us. Satomi remembered how much she loved to go watch parade, Robert remembered opposite. But kids had a good time. Sure enough, Jamba Juice after the parade felt like heaven's drink!

Boy's Hair Cuts

It's summer, we got to get hair cut so they are looking good and cool. Sure enough Evan hated the hair cut, even though it was his 2nd time to cut his hair. But even he cried, he still let me cut his hair safely. What a good baby! Skyler and Robert are getting pro by now to be patience sitting around (or I shall say, Satomi is getting smarter to put movie in the front of them so they will sit still?) and they all looked so handsome boys!

Sugarhouse Park

We decided to have family times as much as we can before our busy daily life starts in August. This time, we went to Sugarhouse park and just enjoyed the summer and nature. I love some of the pictures that reminded me a movie "My neighbor Totoro" If you haven't seen this movie, it is highly recommended!! After the park, we watched the movie as a family and children LOVED it! Satomi was so happy to share her favorite movie as she grew up and having boys loved it, too.

Star Festival

This summer, Satomi has started to teach Japanese little more seriously to Rob and Skyler since Skyler misses his preschool. It's been challenging for Rob to get back to school setting and being a student, but Skyler and Robert are progressing slowly. This month we learned about Star Festival. We didn't have bamboo tree so we decorated a tree on our front yard. It was fun to teach Satomi's culture and how she celebrated when she was little.

Happy July 4th!

This is the very first year since we had our children to even attempt to go see fireworks on July 4th. Earlier that day, we had BBQ at Biggs'house and kids got to play with their cousins and uncles. Robert had to work that night yet he was able to get off just about the time when the firework starts. It was a fun day, even though kids were all so worn out. It's a good 'worn out' experience, I think (except, Evan totally didn't like the sounds of fireworks and Skyler touched the fire and burnt his finger a little).

Star Festival

This month, Satomi started to teach Japanese to Robert and Skyler little more seriously after their request. It's been challenging but slowly they are learning so all is well so far. This month we celebrated Star Festival (Tanabata). We didn't have bamboo so we decorated a tree in our front yard. It was fun!

Friday Night

Satomi, Skyler, and Evan have started our new family tradition on Friday. Usually we are so busy until Thursday night so on Friday, we decided to give us a treat and have a movie night. This is usually the day of laundry, cleaning, and running errands day, yet we want to enjoy Friday night as other people may be. Our latest favorite movies are My neighbor Totoro, Jungle Book, and Ice Age 3. It's nice to take a break from busy life and be together as a family. Too bad we miss Robert most of Friday nights.

Cousins from AZ

Skyler and Evan's cousins from AZ came in UT for unfortunate event. In the bright side, we were able to see them. We don't get to see them often so we were happy just to get together. Evan showed his way of "nice to meet you," to Scarlett by giving her big hugs and kisses. Funny thing is when Skyler and Alexis were their age, they did pretty much same thing. We miss you, Uncle Steve, Ant Mel, Alexis, and Scarlett!

Water Fun

Finally nice weather outside that I can let kids play with water. I miss beach this time of season!! Just Enjoy watching my silly happy boys.

Happy Eating Dance

I think I took a lot more picture with Skyler about him eating at this age but realized I didn't take much on Evan. He eats pretty well so far, no picky yet (knock on woods!)This is when Evan ate his first OREO cookies and he was just having a blast from Sugar power. Scary enough, I didn't give such a thing to Sky when he was this age, but I am sadly admit that I'm loosing a little on Evan. At least, both of them were happy and did a silly dance after they finished their meals. Of course, there was a little sugar crash after.
